Nordic curls under a door: a secure setup for home training
Yes, you can use Nordbelt to perform Nordic curls safely under a suitable, sturdy door. There is no need to drill holes, fit screws or bring a training bench into your home. The essentials are simple: two correctly positioned anchors, a door that closes fully and a pulling direction that holds it against the frame. That gives you a practical place for hamstring training at home.
Before starting, you may have one question: will my door stay in good condition? It is a fair concern. Here is how the attachment works, why two anchors are useful and how to get the door and straps ready.
Two anchors share the pulling force
The strap uses two door anchors. Force reaches the door through two contact points instead of one central point. When the load is shared equally, each anchor carries half the total pulling force. That is the practical benefit: the load is spread between two locations on the door.
For this to work well, position both anchors correctly and adjust both straps to fit. Lay the straps flat, remove any twists and check that both sides take tension. One loose side and one tight side will not share the load in the same way as a carefully fitted setup.
Two anchors do not reduce the total force on the door; they distribute it. A sturdy door and correct attachment therefore remain part of the setup. For the broader choice between a door, bench and other anchor points, see the guide to setting up Nordic curls at home.
Choose the side that keeps the door closed
The key installation rule is this: train on the side where the door opens away from you. Check the swing direction before laying out the strap. During the exercise, the pulling force must hold the closed door against its stop in the frame, rather than pull it in its opening direction.
This makes the direction of force work with the door's closure. You are not relying only on the handle or latch to stop a door swinging towards you. The door rests against the frame, while the anchor pieces stay on the opposite side. Do not train on the side where the door opens towards you.
Close it fully and agree that nobody will use it during your set. Watch the installation steps and short demonstration to see the positioning first. The top photograph shows the strap being placed at an open door; close the door before exercising.
With Nordbelt, you can secure your ankles independently, without someone holding your feet. See the complete set and order for your home training. A suitable door and clear floor space let you establish a regular training spot.

Close the buckles and adjust the straps to fit around your ankles.
Keep your door tidy without drilling
The attachment needs no holes or screws. Place the straps under the door, position the anchors as instructed and remove the set after training. Your room can keep serving as a living room or bedroom when the workout is over.
A clean, properly fitted setup matters for the surface. Keep the straps, bottom edge of the door and contact points clean. Check for grit or other hard particles, lay the straps flat and make sure no buckle or hard part sits between the door and frame. With the straps in place, the door must still close normally and fully; you should not have to force it.
There is no need to improvise protection with towels or loose blocks, which can change the fit. Use the attachment as described. Choose another suitable location if the bottom edge is damaged, the frame is loose or the finish is delicate. No attachment can promise to leave every type of door mark-free, but careful fitting and clean contact points address the main practical concerns.

Make setup a short, familiar routine, so you know what to check each time.
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| Choose your door | Use a sturdy, undamaged door with securely fitted hinges and frame. |
| Check the direction | Position yourself where the door opens away from you. The pull must hold it against the frame. |
| Place both anchors | Lay the straps flat and position both anchor pieces as instructed. Close the door fully. |
| Adjust the straps | Fasten the buckles, adjust both sides to fit and place comfortable padding under your knees. |
| Check and begin | Pull by hand in the exercise direction. Everything stays in place; keep your hands ready to catch yourself. |
Repeat the check before every set, even in your usual spot. If the door moves or a strap shifts, correct the setup first. Do not pull harder on a loose or damaged door to see whether it will hold; choose another location.
What was tested on the strap and buckle?
During development, Nordbelt underwent pull tests at Hartech. The described tests repeatedly loaded the strap-buckle connection until failure, with a reported average breaking load of 1552 newtons. The strength of this connection was therefore investigated through physical testing.
That is useful background when choosing your equipment. The figure refers to the tested connection, rather than the capacity of any household door. In use, combine the tested construction with a suitable anchor point and correct installation. The safety information and test context explain how these work together.
Build up steadily and train with confidence
With your feet securely attached, you can focus on the movement. Start with a short forward lean, keep your trunk and hips in the instructed position and catch yourself with your hands. Your first session does not need the greatest possible range of motion.
A study of eighteen young participants found that the point at which descent accelerated during a Nordic curl differed between individuals (Ditroilo et al., 2013). Choose a range you can control. Another study of eighteen adults with resistance-training experience found that hip position and lower-leg support could change joint loading (Šarabon et al., 2019). These studies concern the exercise; assess the attachment using the installation instructions.
The included progression protocol helps turn your first repetitions into a routine. The guide to common Nordic curl mistakes can help you refine your technique.
A compact set for independent home training
You do not need a large training bench or a partner. The set includes the strap, a storage bag and a manual with a training protocol. Pack it away after your session. That makes it easier to give the exercise a regular place in your week.
If your door is not a good fit, the instructions also cover attachment to a suitable, stable weight bench, fixed fence or beam. Choose a point that cannot slide or tip. The guide to Nordic curls without a bench helps you compare the options.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use my door without drilling into it?
Yes. The straps pass under the door and the anchors remain on the other side. Nothing needs to be screwed in. Choose a sturdy, undamaged door, keep the contact points clean and check that it closes fully with the straps in place.
Which side of the door should I train on?
Use the side where the door opens away from you. The pull then holds it against the stop in the frame. Do not train where it swings towards you, and make sure nobody uses it during your set.
Do two anchors mean less force at each contact point?
Yes, when the load is shared equally, each anchor carries half the total pulling force. Both sides must be correctly positioned and adjusted. The total load on the door remains the same; the benefit is sharing it between two contact points.
What if the strap does not fit properly under my door?
Do not force the door shut. Check the placement against the instructions and choose another suitable door or a stable weight bench if it will not close fully. This keeps the attachment straightforward and avoids trying to fix a poor fit with extra force or improvised padding.
